The Girl Scout Gold Award
Gold Award Girl Scouts are rock stars, role models, and real-life heroes. How do they do it? By using everything they’ve learned as a Girl Scout to solve a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world.
Seniors and Ambassadors who want to go for the Gold Award build a team of trusted adults, peers, and leaders in their community to guide them through challenges and support their success.
Plus? Nothing beats that feeling of seeing real, lasting, and sustainable change and knowing it was you who made it happen. It changes the way you see your place in the world—and how the world sees you.
Our Lorelei
Academics
Lorelei is a high school senior taking a gap year to finish her program of Outdoor Leadership at the MidCoast School of Technology.
When not at Trade School, Lorelei is homeschooled.
Lorelei is a member of the National Technical Honor Society at MSCT.
Advocacy
Lorelei has been a voice for younger girls in her community throughout her high school experience as part of being on the board of directors for GSME. She is a fully fledged member, and it is her job to make sure young girls are being listened to and expressing their opinions where they can't.
Leadership
Lorelei has served on the board of directors for Girl Scouts of Maine, as well as being a member of their teen advisory group. Through the programs, Lorelei has helped run programs for local teenagers in her community as well as throughout the state.
Action
Each year, Lorelei participates in an Outdoor Skills Day, a program that has significantly changed in recent years. What started as a simple 2-hour event has transformed into a weekend event at camp, where girls learn skills from tree identification, water purification, to how to build a shelter in the woods. Lorelei is very active in her community. She has done over 400 hours of volunteering.
